Sustainability

All Teklave clothing designs are screen printed in the US and are printed with water-based ink. Unlike traditional plastisol screen printing ink, which is made of toxic polyvinyl chloride (PVC), water based ink is made of a biodegradable pigment in a water base. Because of the lack of harmful chemicals needed to create and clean up the ink, water based ink is much safer for screen printers, consumers, and the environment.

Teklave strives to create clothing with using as much organic cotton and recycled materials as possible. The clothing blanks Teklave uses to print designs on are currently sourced from AS Color and Bella + Canvas.

AS Color is a part of the Amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (a social compliance supply chain management system), the Better Cotton Initiative (an organization working to make cotton production more sustainable), Reemi (a social enterprise for women's empowerment in the garment industry), and OKEO-TEX® Standard 100 (a certification for safe and sustainable dyeing processes). AS Color has 100% supply chain traceability for their garment suppliers, fabric suppliers, dye houses, and yarn spinners, with 95% traceability of raw cotton and 5% traceability of cotton farms.
